Today I celebrated my "American Birthday". What does that mean?
As a foreigner here you sometimes find yourself facing unexpected difficulties. Such as the way your birthday is written on your ID. The other way around from how they do here in America, that is. For that reason I'm considered to have my birthday on November 7th instead of July 11th. Which happens to be today! To celebrate, I bought a bottle of Californian Sauvignon Blanc and some Brooklyn Babka (a very delicious type of a chocolate cake), accompanied by Happy Birthday Wishes on the cash register.
Never pass an opportunity to have birthday cake and a glass of wine!
Tomorrow is the official election day and the atmosphere seems to be tensing up as we're getting closer to the zero hour. In a way I am happy that I don't get to vote. I'm able to just take a step back and see what happens, without any liability on the outcome. On the other hand, I feel very powerless. Exiting times in here for sure. Tomorrow we'll see what America decides.
I'm saving the rest of my wine for that moment.
Cheers, have a great week!
